Ashbrook teachers are more than subject-matter experts: they are mentors, guides, and role models who bring deep passion and professionalism to the classroom every day. In a word, they are extraordinary!
Our faculty are carefully selected not just for their credentials, though many hold advanced degrees and have rich backgrounds in their disciplines, but also for their ability to connect with students and cultivate a love of learning. They are curious, kind, intellectually vibrant, and deeply committed to the growth of each child. Their enthusiasm is contagious, their expectations are high, and their belief in students’ potential is unwavering. Combined with our small class size (see last week’s About Ashbrook article), and the ability this gives them to truly know our students and our families, students feel a strong sense of belonging, safety, and connection to the material our teachers teach.

Ashbrook teachers don’t typically lecture from the front of the room (not a sage on the stage), they guide (instead, they guide from the side, literally and figuratively!), nurture, challenge, and engage. Whether leading a spirited debate in Humanities, modeling mathematical reasoning, or fostering scientific inquiry, our faculty create dynamic learning environments where students are known, supported, and stretched. They provide individualized feedback, craft meaningful assignments, and stay attuned to student progress with care and intentionality.
But their impact extends well beyond the classroom. Our teachers coach our students playing on Ashbrook and non Ashbrook teams, cheer for their students from weekend sidelines, lead clubs, mentor student leaders, and attend performances and presentations of our students, on and off campus. They are present. They are invested. They show up for their students in all the ways that matter.
