Scott Gerweck is our Music teacher. Mr. Gerweck graduated Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Willamette University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Composition.
He taught private music lessons for 12 years and served as the music director for numerous music camps and retreats. He is also the co-owner, with his wife, and the administrator of Shaller Gerweck Music, Inc., which provides creative arts therapies to at-risk teens, and is Executive Director of Salem Orchestra, a new professional orchestra in Salem.
“Teaching and/or coaching was always going to be part of my life. I enjoy developing craft and passing it along, and discussing methods to mastery with anybody interested. In my years at AIS, I’ve really cherished the opportunity to work with such a wide age range (3-14!), which is endlessly rewarding.”
In his free time, Mr. Gerweck enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, mountaineering, skiing, making non-for-work music, and playing with his son, Sebastian. He also loves to play golf and has been a professional competitor in the Speedgolf World Championships many times.
This is Mr. Gerweck’s 11th year with Ashbrook Independent School.
