Founder & Senior Board Member Cecilia Gore
Cecilia Gore was born in China, grew up in Taiwan where she received a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literature from National Taiwan University. She came to the States for graduate studies and received a M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Oregon.
In the first ten years of the school, Cecilia was the bookkeeper, lunch room coordinator with all volunteer help, occasional substitute teacher, and did whatever needed to be done. She has been on the Ashbrook board since its inception. She has also served on the board of other non-profit organizations and has done volunteer work. Her general interests are gardening, reading, cooking, eating, hiking, and traveling.
Mr. & Mrs. Gore are proud parents of four grown children. Their older son Jeff is now an associate professor of physics at MIT (who has been interviewed on the Colbert Report!). Their two younger children were graduates of Ashbrook. Their younger daughter is Managing Director of District and School Partnerships at Teach for America Massachusetts. Their younger son is teaching computer programming to middle school students.
