Not only did Ashbrook students do well relative to other students in the district; they also did well relative to their own scores three years earlier. For a group of 13 Ashbrook students who took the test in both 2005 (as 4th graders) and in 2008 (as 7th graders), the percentage scoring “exceeds standard” increased from 15% to 54%. In contrast, the number of 509J students exceeding the standard increased only from 5% to 9% from 4th to 7th grade. Ashbrook students showed more improvement.

Franklin School was chosen for comparison because it was the highest scoring in the district in terms of the sum of the % meeting and % exceeding the standard.
